Horses in the Hotel Plaza
We woke up this morning to the sound of neighing horses, then looked out at the cobblestone plaza below to find at least two hundred horses all being shown and traded. Rather unusual for a city of 1.5 million people. Apparently there is a monthly horse show in the plaza. After breakfast we went down and walked around the horses - quite an event. Little kids riding and showing ponies, older farmers showing draft horses, young men whipping up and and the cobblestone road in horse-drawn carts and wagons. There are a couple of pictures and a short video below.

Hello Cousin,
I am doing a genealogical search for my Galway ancestors and I was linked to your blog. Anne King is my great-grandmother. Honor King would be my great-grandaunt. Michael Mongan and Anne emigrated to Chicago in 1905 and my grandmother Mary was born there in 1908.
I am very curious if you have any more information on the family, especially Peter King and Mary Ward from Innishnee. I seem to have found a complete dead end on the Mongan family, and there are many, many King families in that area. I was very excited to see your work on your blog, thank you for the information. I am now planning a vacation to Roundstone and Galway next year. Thank you.
Rich - so sorry for just now seeing this. Email me at johnjamesobrien@gmail.com
